Telecom companies should be facilitators: Palak
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has directed the telecommunication institutions to take initiatives to be facilitators instead of regulators and to transform post offices from mail delivery to service delivery.
On Sunday, February 25, the state minister gave this instruction at the Bangladesh Secretariat to those concerned in a review meeting on the revision of the century-old 'The Post Office Act 1898' and 'Telecom Act 2010' in order to make postal and telecommunication services useful for people-friendly and smart Bangladesh.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak pointed out that the need for consumer-friendly and smart technology-friendly timely legislation is essential to strengthen public trust in the Postal Department established under The Post Office Act 1898 and to ensure smart Bangladesh's useful services.
The Minister of State emphasized the need to make regulations regarding the development and efficient management of Bangladesh Mailing Operators and Courier Services and the related ancillary issues in order to make courier services suitable for Smart Bangladesh.
The Additional Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division A, K, M, Amirul Islam; Mohammad Golam Sarwar e Kaynat and related officials of offices and organizations under the Department of Posts and Telecommunication and related experts were present on the occasion.
